Historical Research

When you move house no one would expect you to live with the previous owners’ wallpaper or curtains, and the same is true of a garden. But before you create a new layer or begin a restoration, I can research and record what’s gone before. This may be essential as part of a planning application or purely for your own interest and that of future generations.

Previous projects include: an extensive range of garden buildings and gardens from the early eighteenth to the late twentieth century for the National Trust. An artist and an architect’s garden for The National Trust for Scotland. The history of Eaton Hall in Cheshire for the late Duke of Westminster, as well as several private landscapes and gardens in Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Somerset.
